Love them or hate them, the CX500 is a bike that divides. Those who love them, do so with an almost cult-like reverence. Those who don’t, would prefer to see them relegated to the scrap heap. They were rather revolutionary for their time – the Moto Guzzi style longtitudinal V-Twin, electric start and low maintenance shaft drive were a shift away from the traditional Honda of the time.
As time goes on, they are certainly seeing a resurgence in popularity. Clean, stock examples are fetching good coin, and are becoming harder to get a hold of.
So when the builder of this example scored himself a bargain, and with little more than swapping out a set of spark plugs to get the motor firing, the resto-mod process began…
With a very low 37,000 km on her, after a bit of cleaning up and a good service the motor starts, runs and idles beautifully – you’ll be hard pressed finding another CX with a motor in similar condition.
The tank features the bike’s original Electric Blue paintwork, now clear coated to protect it and give it a patina effect.
Pretty much every single part & component has been restored, replaced or detailed.
